I am almost to that half century mark. Yikes. I don't think I'm old, but my body is starting to say "hold up there, you sure"- A LOT.
I made a decision last year to learn to swim. Great exercise- right. Well, my shoulder disapproved. Badly. By the time I finally got an MRI, the partial tear in my rotator cuff was likely halfway healed. The time that passed in between the injury and the diagnosis and finally getting in to PT that actually helped me was about a year. Which sucks. And I did months of PT that only seemed to aggravate the shoulder- as soon as I stopped doing that exercise, my shoulder felt so much better. I had to really slow down in my massage and learn to do things differently to take care of myself. It has been hard. I feel like I am letting down everyone at times. And still doing a poor job of taking care of myself.
While my shoulder was still in the midst of being dumb, my foot started hurting. I apparently developed a ganglion cyst on the top of my foot that was pressing on my nerves. I could hardly walk. My podiatrist told me that I needed different shoes. I own so many pairs of new (dog chew toys)- I mean shoes that I make fun of myself. Oh yeah, we got a puppy. I was planning on running with her, but my foot can't keep up with that, so we get lots of walks in. And she still gets mad at me and chews up my stuff!! One day she'll be a sweetheart, just got to get through the Velociraptor years (husky puppy- IYKYK). Some days are better than others with the foot, but maybe one of these pairs of shoes will help. Did I mention that I think I may be developing plantar fasciitis? Lots of stretching and toe grabs for me.
I'm finally feeling better for my shoulder and my foot is not getting worse. Taking each day in stride and making sure I take care of myself, along with all my other people and critters. Working hard on some general fitness. I hate all these ads about tai chi walking, pilates, walk-fit because I don't believe it is that simple. Stretching, eating right, and getting exercise is what will help you out more. AI videos have ruined everything these days.
And finally, I am actually really feeling like getting back into it. I need to do more work here to keep my sanity safe. Being a small self-employed massage therapist is a challenge but I can do it!! Enjoying some continuing education and looking forward to a great summer!
I will prevail. Feet are still pointing in the right direction.
TLDR: My shoulder hurts, my foot hurts, my dog destroys my stuff. I'm getting better. AI sucks. I'm open for business.
